Councillors wishes to retain as much historical character have been listened to by McDonald's
The Tumble Down Dick almost looks respectable. I personally like the idea of opening up the vista into the back. A very convenient venue to meet residents perhaps?

1) It does not need to be a McDonalds to look respectable again.
2) Not quite sure what you mean by vista here. You can glimpse the meads (whoopee) but the site is bounded by fences at the back and you'll risk being mown down in the car park/drivethru lane if you go back there.
3) You have not commented on the ugly blockhouse they envisage adding to the left of the building. Reminds me of a crematorium...
4) These dewy-eyed images bear no resemblance to the reality that is threatened; Traffic problems significantly worsened due to poor design of car park/drivethru, litter, noise, smell and antisocial behaviour on site and in the surrounding area.
I would not advise meeting anyone there if you want to make a good impression for youself or your ward.

Then perhaps when you hear yourself say it you will realise how disappointed the majority of people in Farnborough are in you!
McDonald's listened to those who went behind the back of the local community and in no way were acting for or representing the views of the local community.
I have never seen a McDonald's Drive-Thru described as an attractive vista before.

A very misleading picture.
There are no trees in the middle of the road, where is the litter, where is the traffic, where is the traffic backing up out of the Drive-Thru?
Farnborough fares badly on health stats. McDonald's would make it worse.

But then we have seen the Council get into bed with developers and trash the town.
We have seen the Council push through plans to destroy four local businesses at Firgrove Parade, destroy an area of grass and trees, blatantly lie that the trees were in a poor state of health.
We have seen the Council waste £1 million of public money to lay new paving slabs in Queensmead, an appalling waste of public money at a time of austerity.
It is easy to why local people hold local councillors in such contempt.

Hmmm A McDonalds, with zero hour minimum wage contracts, obesity, and using only the shell of the building (and not retaining the oldest part) or a music venue, pub and community hub, a project led by the community, by locals taking pride in the community, providing something diverse, and different, something that will add to the evening economy and will add to the choices of locals - to me the choices are obvious.
I presume no-one commenting will want to come to my kids birthday party at McDonald's?
Perhaps they prefer some run down pub populated by drug users and prostitutes where fights break out, with abusive drunks urinating in the main road - as was the Tumble Down Dick.

You really think this is a good idea? Who exactly do you represent in this ward because it is not me? Oh, another Tory putting the needs of big corporate business over those of the people you are meant to be representing. What do we need a drive through McD for? A dreadful idea that brings nothing of value to Farnborough. Did you ever think about stopping Bride Hall from allowing the Tumbly to go to rack and ruin in the first place? What we need is a community art centre and live music venue, something that will add cultural value to Farnborough and draw people into the town. What we don't need is another fast food outlet that is exactly the same as everywhere else, adds nothing of value to the town and is an unfair employer.
I presume you thought it was a good idea to destroy the only green area on this side of town so we could have an ugly empty hotel and chain eatery in its place.
Why don't you try finding out what your residents want instead of telling us what you want. You were elected to represent us, not further your own career and dictate to us.
Don't they just. I was a patron of over 20 years and saw less violence in there than I have witnessed in and around many a flash new bar. I'm not going to say it was perfect, few pubs are - but you are very wide of the mark. I remember it as a very welcoming, inclusive and friendly place to be.
Sounds like you never set foot in the place to be perfectly honest.
McDonalds for children's parties? I put a stop to it, they don't need any more promotion - you do realise young people are growing up thinking that stuff is the height of culinary experiences??
