I have been 'slammed' by networkservices.com

I have learnt a new word today. Slamming. This is when you are taken from your telephone provider without your consent.

networkservices.com Ltd has just slammed me, and because BT were late in advising me that my service was being removed, I lost the line for a brief period.

I rang BT and the first advisor told me there was nothing that he could do.

So I rang Ofcom, who said the best thing to do was to get BT to take it back by immediately placing an order with them. Why did the BT advisor not tell me this?

So I went back to BT and got a more helpful advisor that was aware what to do.

I then complained to Ofcom, who said that they would get networkservices.com to call me within 5 days (from 20th April 2011). They did not. So I then called Ofcom again.

networkservices.com are not under any legal obligation to call me so they didn't. And Ofcom said as networkservices.com do not have an ombudsman, they cannot take any further action, but said they would note the complaint and take action if there were more complaints from others.

I am of course free to take my own legal course of action!! Hey thanks for the support Ofcom.

I am taking this matter up with our MP and would be interested in any other slamming issues residents have experienced.

A solution at last? How to solve the financial crisis - a resident view.

Dear Mr. Cameron,

Please find below our suggestion for fixing England 's economy.

Instead of giving billions of pounds to banks that will squander the money on lavish parties and unearned bonuses, use the following plan.   You can call it the Patriotic Retirement Plan:

There are about 10 million people over 50 in the work force.  Pay them £1 million each severance for early retirement with the following stipulations:

 1) They MUST retire - ten million job openings - unemployment fixed

 2) They MUST buy a new British car. Ten million cars ordered - car Industry fixed

3) They MUST either buy a house or pay off their mortgage - housing crisis fixed

 4) They MUST send their kids/grandkids to school/college/university - Crime rate fixed

 5) They MUST buy £100 WORTH of alcohol/tobacco a week.....and there's your money back in duty/tax etc

6) Instead of stuffing around with the carbon emissions trading schemes that makes us pay for the major polluters, tell the greedy bastards to reduce their pollution emissions by 75% within 5 years or we shut them down.

Other points you might consider:

Put the pensioners in jail and the criminals in a nursing home, then the pensioners would have access to showers, hobbies and walks. They'd also receive unlimited free prescriptions, dental and medical treatment, wheel chairs etc. They’d have constant video monitoring so if assistance was needed they’d have immediate help. Bedding would be washed twice a week, and all clothing would be washed and ironed as needed.   There would be a guard to check on them every 20 minutes and staff to bring their meals and snacks to their cell.

They would have family visits in a suite built for that purpose.

They would have access to a library, weight room, spiritual counseling, pool and education.

Simple clothing, shoes, slippers, PJ's and legal aid would be free, on request.

There would be private, secure rooms for all, with an exercise outdoor yard, with gardens for anyone who felt the need to exercise.

Each senior could have a PC a TV radio and daily phone calls and there would be a board of directors to hear complaints, and all guards would have a code of conduct that would have to be strictly adhered to.

The criminals would get cold food, be left all alone and unsupervised day and night.  Lights off at 8pm, and showers once a week; live in a tiny room and pay £600.00 per week without any hope of ever getting out.

Think about this (more points of contention):

COWS

Is it just me, or does anyone else find it amazing that, during the mad cow epidemic, our government could track a single cow, born almost three years ago in Appleby, right to the stall where she slept in the county of Cumbria?   And, they even tracked her calves to their individual stalls.. But they are unable to locate 125,000 illegal immigrants wandering around our country. Maybe we should give each illegal immigrant a cow.

Local Enterprise

Local Enterprise Partnership
·         The Business Launch for our new Enterprise M3 Local Enterprise Partnership was held at the Princes Hall at 8 am last Tuesday.  The event was extremely well attended with over 180 delegates and the consensus was that it had been a success. The event was focussed specifically at businesses and, as well as increasing their awareness of the LEP, its main purpose was to identify their priorities for economic growth and to get them to consider nominating representatives to sit on the Board.  The voting on priorities was carried out through an electronic system a little like “Who Wants to be a Millionaire” and the results were -

70% of businesses at the conference expected their business to expand over the next two to three years which shows the high levels of confidence in the local economy.

Businesses believe that the most powerful enablers of growth are;
·         getting people with the right skills
·         access to customers and markets nationally
·         initiatives to improve business productivity and efficiency
Businesses believe that the biggest barriers to growth are;
·         a shortage of skills
·         poor broadband speed and availability
·         difficulties in accessing finance
·         red tape.

Say no to AV

Why should the small party supporters get to choose who our MP is? This is a referendum to give more power to minority parties - a dangerous path to tread.

The launch of the No to AV campaign in Rushmoor.
We hear about the Have's - well above is the No Av's
I think that means 'no av' good taste in T-shirts

On a more serious note - this referendum must get a clear NO from residents, it is the slippery slope of taking power from the majority and giving disproportionate power to minority groups. Do we want to see the minority groups playing king maker up and down the country? I have and always will trust the majority to make the right decisions for this country, anything that encourages horse trading and deals with minorities is the politics of the asylum. Which brings me back to the T-Shirts!

Well done to Gareth (Cllr Lyon) on the far left (picture only I might add) my bright young colleague in Empress who is leading the local campaign against AV.
